Wet Sand Blasting Machine

Overview

Dry sand blasting works, but everyone downwind pays for it. The dust cloud it throws is a visibility problem, a housekeeping problem, and above all a respiratory hazard that modern sites cannot accept. The Wet Sand Blasting Machine keeps the cutting power of abrasive blasting and takes away the cloud: abrasive is delivered within a stream of high pressure water, and an integrated mist collector captures what little escapes, so the dust that dry blasting throws into the air is trapped at the source instead.

The result is aggressive surface preparation, rust, scale, old paint and coatings stripped to clean metal, in places and conditions where dry blasting would be unworkable, from a compact unit that moves to the job.

How wet blasting works

Water and abrasive media are combined and delivered through the blast nozzle together. The abrasive does the cutting; the water does two jobs at once: it drives the abrasive and it traps the fractured particles and dust the instant they are created. What would have been an airborne cloud becomes a heavy slurry that falls at the workpiece, where it can be contained and cleared, with the mist collector handling the fines.

The dust difference

Suppressing dust at the nozzle changes what the job needs around it: less containment, less cleanup, less disruption to surrounding operations, and dramatically less airborne particulate for operators and everyone nearby. For plants that must keep producing while surfaces are prepared, that is the difference between doing the work now and postponing it.
